HydroSmith LLC is my independent, private consulting practice offering services in flood hazard analysis, quantitative risk assessment, and related areas. I provide beginner-to-advanced training in risk software, statistical methods, hydrologic engineering, and risk assessment to help teams build their own technical expertise, and I design and develop custom software tools tailored to the unique challenges of engineering and risk analysis applications. Each service is offered in my personal capacity and grounded in practical experience, aimed at delivering clear, effective solutions.
Consulting
Through HydroSmith LLC, I provide independent technical consulting in flood hazard analysis, quantitative risk assessment, and related areas, supporting clients on their own projects and analyses. My work helps organizations strengthen data-driven decision-making for complex water resource challenges and navigate uncertainty with clarity and confidence. All consulting is performed privately and independently, using publicly available methods and my own expertise.
Technical Training
I provide beginner-to-advanced training in freely and publicly available risk analysis software, including RMC-BestFit, RMC-RFA, and RMC-TotalRisk, as well as statistical methods, hydrologic engineering, and risk assessment. Sessions are hands-on, tailored to the audience, and built entirely from publicly available materials and my own experience, designed to build practical skills that translate directly to real-world projects.
Custom Software
I design and develop modern, custom software tools tailored to the needs of engineering and risk analysis applications. My focus is on building original, client-specific solutions I develop independently, from standalone applications to specialized analytical tools, that enhance efficiency, improve insight, and support risk-informed decision-making. This work draws on deep experience in scientific software design, including my prior development of widely used risk analysis applications for the dam and levee safety community.
